Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) will provide a 50% subsidy support for welding training programs across Queensland in 2026. Delivered by Weld Australia, this initiative addresses the critical shortage of certified welders and welding supervisors, especially in regional manufacturing centres supporting defence, energy, infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing supply chains.

Program highlights

  • MSQ will subsidise up to 50% of costs for eligible Queensland manufacturing employees and businesses with fewer than 200 employees.
  • Training delivered by Weld Australia across multiple Queensland locations including Maryborough, Gladstone, Cairns, Brisbane, Townsville, Mackay, and Bundaberg.
  • Designed for welding supervisors and welders working in high-risk applications, pressure equipment, and structural steel fabrication.
  • Programs support compliance with Australian standards AS 1796 Cert 10, AS 2214, and internationally recognised ISO 9606 welder certification.

Participant eligibility:

  • Must be an employee of a Queensland manufacturing business.
  • Must meet the prerequisites for training.
  • Must reside in Queensland.

Business eligibility:

  • Must be a Queensland manufacturing business with less than 200 employees.
