Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) has announced its funded high-risk training and licensing program aimed at enhancing the skills of workers across Queensland’s manufacturing industry. These courses, delivered by accredited providers, focus on critical areas such as workplace safety, equipment operation, manual handling, and emergency response.

MSQ’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Kris McCue said the program is a significant step forward in supporting Queensland’s manufacturing sector by providing affordable, high-quality training that meets industry needs.

“Manufacturing Skills Queensland’s high-risk training and licensing program will help businesses and their employees stay competitive and compliant with industry standards.”

“The program was designed to support businesses and individuals in manufacturing access to essential training to improve productivity.

“One of the biggest challenges facing our manufacturing sector is the cost and accessibility of quality training. By reducing these barriers, we’re enabling more workers to develop critical skills that directly translate to increased productivity in the workplace,” Kris said.

Manufacturers can access a broad range of courses such as forklift operation, confined spaces training, working at heights, chemical handling, first aid, workplace health and safety, leadership fundamentals, and quality control procedures.

The courses are available across multiple locations including Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba, and are delivered by accredited providers including Australian Trade Training College, Harness Training Pty Ltd, Major Training Group, SDS Training and WorkSafe Connect.

The initiative forms part of MSQ’s broader strategy to strengthen Queensland’s manufacturing workforce capabilities and support the sector’s growth and innovation objectives.

Manufacturers interested in accessing the subsidised training program can visit the MSQ website for more information on eligibility and available courses.
