Grace Loves Lace Vocational Education and Training (VET) Emerging Industries (VEI) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program achievers.

Queensland bridal gown manufacturer for the national and international market, Grace Loves Lace, recently celebrated a major milestone by completing its Vocational Education and Training (VET) Emerging Industries (VEI) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program. This achievement resulted in 21 individuals earning accreditation, underscoring the boutique’s dedication to skill development in the textile manufacturing industry. The program included two distinct streams: one for textile manufacturing and one for clothing manufacturing.

Congratulations to Grace Loves Lace and all the successful candidates.

Grace Loves Lace head machinist and successful candidate, Shalome Bown, highlights the common challenge of entry-level machinists lacking technical skills and dedicated development time. “I see promise in the traineeship model to provide the necessary time and mentorship for skill cultivation under experienced tradespeople,” she said.

Erika Grant, Grace Loves Lace Production Manager and another successful candidate, understands the challenges of growing a team. “It’s been an honour to witness team members achieving their accreditation through the RPL process,” Erika said. “Looking ahead, I hope the traineeship model will play a crucial role in training and nurturing our talent, meeting the evolving needs of our production team.”

Grace Loves Lace’s commitment to empowering its workforce through the RPL process and a forward-thinking traineeship model not only benefits individual employees like Shalome Bown and Erika Grant but also contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of the production team, ensuring a skilled and well-trained workforce for the future.

“This project aims to enhance the manufacturing industry by upskilling current workers through RPL and targeted gap training. By doing so, we are preparing them to become the next generation of supervisors, ready to mentor future trainees,” Wayne explained.

This program has been implemented in most regions of Queensland.

The Queensland Government’s VEI initiative ensures Queensland has a skilled workforce to meet the demands of new and emerging industry sectors. With a $15 million investment over two years to 30 June 2024, VEI targets four main industries, including manufacturing (with a total allocation of $5 million).
