Manufacturing Skills Queensland presents Your Career Factory Careers — a 25-lesson resource suite aligned to the Career Education Short Course syllabus. These resources are designed for delivery over 10-weeks. Created for Year 10 students, lesson plans, slide decks, activity sheets, multimedia and assessment tasks to support educators to bridge the gap between school education and the evolving manufacturing industry, equipping students with the knowledge and insights needed to explore diverse career pathways within this vital sector.
Your Career Factory offers a comprehensive exploration of the manufacturing industry’s role in the modern economy. Students will gain an understanding of various career opportunities beyond traditional roles, including positions in design, assembly, food technology, aerospace engineering, and more. Carefully aligned with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s Short Course in Career Education students will be well-equipped with the knowledge and exposure needed to make informed decisions about their future careers in this vital industry.
Resources are designed for flexible delivery in 35- or 70-minute lessons over 10 weeks. It includes fully developed lesson plans, multimedia resources such as engaging videos and web-based materials, assessment tools to track student progress, and comprehensive teacher support guides. This structure allows schools to integrate the program seamlessly into existing timetables and teaching approaches.
Educators have total flexibility to deliver the full program, select specific lessons, or use individual resources to augment their existing teaching and career education activities.
Originally piloted in 2025, the program was developed in collaboration with Griffith University and partners—Urangan State High School, Maryborough State High School, Mitchelton State High School and Edmund Rice. Feedback from the pilot phase informed the final resource design.
